I recently went to Turkey and travelled around the entire Western half of the country. The highlight was hot air ballooning over Cappadoccia, but I just found this long exposure photo of some whirling dervishes I took and thought it was worth posting.

Back from Turkey
I just got back from a couple of weeks exploring Turkey. Living on kebabs and melting in up to 40 degree heat was the challenging kind of fun and I managed to see pretty much all of western Turkey in an exhausting 4000km road trip. I also got to ride a hot air balloon through the valleys of Cappadoccia, which was pretty damn cool!

Back from my travels
After a solid month of eating and chilling, Im back. Despite eating anything and everything that looked remotely edible, I managed to gain only a couple of kilos. Almost every meal brought with it something new and challenging to my palette, from sea snails and chicken feet, to deep fried fish heads and pig’s trotters.
I’m too lazy to sort through and upload my photos yet – instead, I am trying to get out of holiday mode and get back into training and coding :/

Trekking in the Lakes
I recently went up to the Lake District with some friends and did a fair amount of trekking. Geez was it windy! Very pretty though, if a little overpriced.
But I guess that’s bank holiday weekend everywhere

Cage Rage 23
I went to see the Cage Rage 23 Mixed Martial Arts Championships last week, which saw the triumphant return of Vitor Belfort. It’s basically the UK version of the UFC, but contrary to popular belief, it’s not completely no-holds-barred combat – there are some rules
I trained with some of these guys last year at the promoter’s own gym, Elite Fighting in South London …and believe me, it is the definitive ‘School of Hard Knocks’. Elite’s very own Ed Smith lost his match to judge’s decision, hard luck Ed. But the most impressive match was former British and Commonwealth Heavyweight Boxing Champion Julius Francis being stopped in the second round by Gary Turner.

Sunny Sardinia
I just got back from holiday in Sardinia and it was bloody hot! Did lots of swimming eating and taking of photos. The Prickly Pear cactus pictured right grows everywhere in Sardinia and the fruit is pretty yummy – but you have to know how to get at it without getting prickled to death
